International Surfing Museum

Small, and easily overlooked from the street, this building is a rare example of a more art deco design found in a coastal community. A tile bulkhead, scalloped column features, and a zig-zag cornice feature articulate an otherwise flat stucco facade. Collectively, they give the building the look of a schoolhouse. What ironically better place to devote an institution dedicated to the history of one of the more eclectic sports and its athletes? (2020)
