Municipal Swim Stadium
(William Peak Park)
Originally built as a floating roof over walls of glass and rows of brick walls, this building has long been bastardized by more recent "renovations." Now in a more Spanish revival style than modernist, the remaining features from Neutra's design are a few brick walls, and the pool itself. Which, in a way is poetic in the fact that Neutra designed the building to merely be a stop along the way to the pool. He knew that the pool is the real star of the show, and the building is not the reason people visit. (2020)
