First Episcopal Methodist Church

(HBC Church)

The all-brick church is officially listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A glance at the front door, and the large stained-glass window behind the congregation makes it abundantly clear to see why. The front door is elevated above street level via a handful of stairs in a gothic turret that is perhaps more at home in a castle or armory. It is unusual to have gothic revival buildings in Orange County, but this example is arguably one of the best in the country. (2017)
